A couple of weeks ago, I went to Coachella Weekend 1 with my brother. It was the first musical festival I’ve ever been to, and it did not disappoint. It was an amazing adventure with lots of good music, weird people and weird food (both good weird and weird weird), no sleep, lots of sand and dust and sunscreen, and enough memories for a lifetime.

Each year, the Indio-California music festival Coachella justifiably gets a bad rap. But, if you’re willing to brave the heat (and have some friends to insulate you against the bros and racist outfits) it can be a truly fun time full of amazing bands and great pals. There’s something kind of magical about being in the middle of the hot desert with terrible wifi and waking up with no plans except trekking out to see bands you love. Weekend 2 was a dusty three days of anti-Trump speeches, Prince tributes, and a surprising amount of glittery disco balls. ✿
