The Strokes at Capitol Theatre

There’s a very special magic in the air at any Strokes show, rare as those shows may be nowadays. Capitol Theatre, however, was an electric universe of its own. The surprise – but not unexpected – concert kicked off a magnetic week of New York City Strokes mania – a spontaneous EP release, a week-long pop-up shop, and a bewitching Governor’s Ball headlining set. Weeks later, I’m still reeling.

Review + Live Photos: The Hotline Spring Tour

When the Hotline Spring Tour was announced early this year, I was ecstatic. As a massive fan of Drake’s pastel pink-hued tunes as well as the dreamy electronic band, Magic Man, it was the perfect combination. Add in the catchy indie-rock of opener Panama Wedding and the energetic, spunky electro-rock of Australian quartet The Griswolds, and you’ll have the rainbow-swirled party that kept fans dancing allllll night long.

Last month, I had the privilege of shooting Melanie Martinez’s concert here in Philadelphia, and it was an absolutely *magical* experience. As Melanie stepped on stage, the audience was transported to a fairytale; a dreamland where glorious reverie intertwines with darkness. Hopefully these photos of Melanie’s otherworldly show will inspire allllll of you to check out her music and check her out at one of her festival shows this summer, which are bound to be amazing. ✿

Live Photos: Sunflower Bean

The first time I discovered Sunflower Bean was during one of the final sets at last year’s Beach Goth IV. Going into the Constellation Room that night, I wasn’t too familiar with their music, but as they started playing I instantly fell in love with their sound, style and the way they drew in the crowd.
After their time at SXSW, I was lucky enough to catch the psych-rock trio as they played a sold out headlining show at the Echo in LA in support of their debut album, Human Ceremony. It was truly one of my favorite sets I’ve seen so far this year.
